Samsung Electronics launched a new washing machine “FlexWash” at its headquarters in Seocho, southern Seoul on Thursday. It is a combination of both a small-size top-loader of 3.5 kilograms and a large-size front-loader.

FlexWash was first released at the CES 2017 in Las Vegas in January. It is the third innovative washing machine following “ActiveWash (2015),” which combines the washboard for rough washing and “AddWash (2016),” which allows users to add more laundry and detergents in the middle of washing clothes. FlexWash reduced inconvenience from different washing types. As it combines a top-loader, a front-loader, and a dryer, it makes better use of space.

A small top-loader at the top allows washing laundry with 90- to 95-degree Celsius water. It is also useful to wash small amount of laundry such as baby clothes and underwear frequently. A front-loader below can wash thick bedclothes with the maximum capacity of 23 kilograms and dry them.

It applied an ergonomic design that allows users can put laundry in the washing machine without bending their waist. A small window at the top of the front-loader makes it easier for them to add more laundry. It is the first in the home appliance sector to provide artificial intelligence remote control services which diagnoses its condition and lets users know about them. It can control the washing process with a smartphone when users have to leave the house. The black model has four capacities – 17, 19, 21, and 23 kilograms – and the white one has only one option. It costs ranging from 2.29 million won (1,970 U.S. dollars) to 2.69 million won (2,320 dollars).
