LG Electronics has unveiled 4 mm razor-thin organic light-emitting diode (OLED) television series with wallpaper design. The 65-inch new model will be on the market on Saturday at 14 million Korean won (approx. 12,290 U.S. dollars).

At an unveiling event held at LG R&D center in Seocho, Seoul on Thursday, LG Signature OLED TV W (W standing for wall), whose 4 mm-thick monitors can be mounted to the wall just as a magnet does, was at the center of attention. The product was awarded with the Innovation Award at the Consumer Electronic Show in January 2017. Other components such as its speakers with the only exception of its monitors are separated in a different box. The company has also unveiled its premium model whose LCD has been applied with Nano Cell display technologies. With the leadership in the OLED TV market, the company appears to have employed a “two-track strategy” to make a head-on competition against Samsung in LCD TV market as well.

“The OLED market will keep growing as 11 more TV companies have introduced their OLED products this year,” said Kwon Bong-seok, vice president of the home and entertainment division at LG Electronics. “We plan to increase the sales portion of OLED TV from 10 percent last year to 15 percent this year.”
