Hyundai’s new i30 hatchback has topped among five mid-size hatchbacks in Europe in a recent review by Auto Bild, Germany’s auto magazine. The new model, which launched in the Korean market last year, started to be sold in Europe from this month.

In the review of five models, the new i30 was ranked no.1 scoring 531 points out of 750 points. It topped in five out of seven categories including vehicle frame, power train, driving performance and convenience. It was followed by Opel Astra (523 points), Mazda 3 (496 points), Renault Megane (490 points) and Peugeot 308 (486 points).

“The new i30 is a well-made vehicle for daily use and is very strong and practical,” the magazine said. “The balanced driving experience is a strength and its brake and engine performance is more competitive than its previous model.”
