LG Electronics announced on Monday that its new flagship smartphone “G6” will feature much enhanced audio functions.

It is reported that G6, which will be disclosed late this month, will be equipped with a Quad DAC (Digital to Analog Converter), manufactured by ESS, an American high-functional audio chip maker.

In September last year, LG rolled out the V20, the first smartphone in the world to be equipped with a Quad DAC. The converter allows for reducing the noise up to by 50 percent compared to the G5 or V10, LG's previous smartphone models with a single DAC. LG’s V20, which boasts much enhanced audio performance thanks to the Quad DAC, has been in steadily high demand, with 600,000 units selling in North American market alone in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The new Quad DAC to be embedded in the G6 offers a more balanced sound quality compared to the V20, by fine-tuning the sound qualities from each of the two ear pieces. The new technology offers three-dimensional sound experience, transporting the listeners to a live concert hall, and ensures a sound distortion rate as low as 0.0002 percent, which is comparable to that of a high-end audio equipment.
