Hyundai Motor showcased its Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq self-driving electric vehicle at the 2017 North American International Auto Show on Tuesday local time. Hyundai Motor has taken on a strategy to introduce its economically-competitive car to be released in the North American market next month and display its prowess in the IT segment, instead of bringing new models to the show.

Hyundai’s Ioniq Hybrid received a rating of 58 MPG in mileage eval‎uation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, beating 56 MPG offered by Toyota’s famous third-generation Prius, which had claimed a top spot in the global eco-friendly vehicle market. MPG refers to how many miles a car can travel with a gallon of fuel. In other words, Ioniq Hybrid can drive about 24.65 kilometers per a liter of fuel.

Hyundai Motor also displayed its Ioniq self-driving electric vehicle that the company had completed testing of autonomous drive service. Along with new Ioniq models, the company showcased some IT features and connected technology functions installed in its vehicles such as Amazon's artificial intelligence voice recognition service “Alexa.”

“Visitors will witness strong IT capabilities of Hyundai Motor through Hyundai’s self-driving car and connected technology, helping the company be a leader in this area,” said Hyundai Motor.

In the meantime, the Chevrolet Bolt received the North American Car of the Year at the North American Auto Show, beating nominees including the Hyundai EQ900 and the Volvo S90.
