LG Electronics will introduce the Super Ultra HD TV at the CES 2017, the world’s largest consumer electronics exhibition in Las Vegas on Thursday local time. The high-end television is a new product developed by the Korea-based electronics company to target the premium LCD TV market. The product is set to compete in earnest with Samsung Electronics, which adopts Quantum Dot (QD) as its next-generation TV business strategy.

LG’s Super Ultra TV is characterized by enhanced accuracy of color hues and increased capacity to represent colors based on Nano Cell technology. Nano cell is a novel technology that takes advantage of ultrafine particles measuring nanometers in size, which is equivalent to one hundreds of thousandth of the thickness of a human hair. Until now, LCD TVs have inevitably presented tiny hint of other colors such as yellow or orange when presenting red color on the screen, but Nano Cell technology is designed to prevent such color intervention. The technology also reduces the amount of light reflected on the screen, and thus enables viewers to watch high definition pictures even in a bright place, and reduces the degree of color distortion stemming from changing viewing angles.

In addition, LG Electronics applied highly advanced color correction technology to the Super Ultra HD TV to provide more abundant colors that look closer to natural colors. The new television model is also equipped with Web OS, LG’s operating system for TV sets, which offers the smart function that allows the user to use the numbers on the remote control as if they are shortcut keys on the telephone, or to search with just a single click diverse contents related to the program that he or she is watching.
