In the U.S., one of the most competitive home appliances markets in the world, Samsung Electronics has taken the largest market share (in terms of brand) in the third quarter of this year following the second quarter. According to TraQline, a U.S.-based market survey company, Samsung had the largest market share of 18.8 percent in Q3, up by 2.1 percentage point quarter on quarter and up by 4.2 percentage point year on year.

Its premium refrigerators – both French-door and double-door freezers – topped in the market. Its combined market share was 21.7 percent, topping the market for three consecutive quarters.

Samsung showed particularly good performance in the premium market with a market share of 40 percent in the French-door freezers costing over 3,000 dollars and 72 percent in the French-door freezers with a price tag of over 4,000 dollars.

On the back of strong sales in its new product line “AddWash,” Samsung had the largest market share, or 19.7 percent, in the washing machine market for the first time in the third quarter. “Market shares increased evenly in ovens, microwaves and dishwashers,” said Park Jae-soon, vice president of the strategic marketing team of Samsung's home appliances division.
