The Galaxy Note7, a premium big-screen smartphone from Samsung Electronics, which will be put on sale from this Friday, has more than 400,000 preorders during the 13-day preorder period, it was reported on Wednesday. The preorder volume far exceeds that of the Galaxy S7 series. The Galaxy S7 series had more than 100,000 preorders during a weeklong preorder period.

“As a selling of 10,000 units per day is considered a ‘hot seller’ in the Korean smartphone market these days, the Galaxy Note7 has already sold the entire volume for a month for 13 days.”

Notably, analysts say that the preorder volume is very significant given that the Galaxy Note series with high price is generally less popular and common than the Galaxy S series. Blue coral, new in the color lineup, reportedly accounts for more than half of the entire preorder volume of the Galaxy Note7.

Since the Galaxy Note7 is enjoying immense initial popularity not only in Korea but also in the global market, launch of the new smartphone is being delayed from late August to early September in certain countries where official launch schedules have not been finalized. Except for North America and Korea, where launch is scheduled on Friday, Samsung's newest gadget will be put on sale in Europe and Asian countries beginning September 2.
