LG Electronics will reveal its premium smartphone "V20," the second of its "V" series both in Seoul and San Francisco in next month.

The Korean electronics giant sent an invitation on Thursday to global media groups to visit the V20 public unwrapping event. As its high-end smartphone "G5" released in the first half of this year turned out to be a failure, all eyes are on whether LG's struggling mobile communications division can pave the way for the rebound with its flagship model V20 in the second half.

The cover of the invitation letter shows a playful image of a "pop-up book," which pops out three-dimensional pictures when opened. LG's invitations for Korean guests include an image that portrays Seoul's signature buildings including the N Seoul Tower, Namdaemun, 63 Square and the Statue of Admiral Yi Sun-shun, while those for international attendees include San Francisco's highlights such as the Golden Gate Bridge and trams.

The first of its kind V10 released in October last year enjoyed favorable coverage from the foreign press with the world's first dual-display technology, featuring "Second Screen" and "Dual Front-facing Camera." While specifications are yet to be announced, industry experts forecast V20 as a multimedia-oriented product.
