Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. announced on Tuesday that it has won a deal to supply more than 300 LCD industrial robots to Vibrant Display Technology, a Chinese subsidiary of Taiwanese LCD panel maker Chunghwa Picture Tubes. The amount of order will exceed 40 million U.S. dollars. The robots are scheduled to be installed in Fuzhou LCD panel plant by the second half of next year.

Hyundai Heavy Industries, the only domestic industrial robot manufacturer of Korea, entered the robot business back in 1984. It had seen its first success in the sector in 2007, and now its industrial robots account for 30 percent of the global LCD robots market.

The company has set this year’s goal at selling 273 billion won in the robot business, an increase of 7.5 percent from the previous year, at the same time speeding up to commercialize a wide range of medical robots to support walking rehabilitation, cancer treatment, to name a few.
