Samsung Electronics is planning to roll out its flagship smartphone "Galaxy S7" for the first time in Barcelona, Spain, at 7:00 p.m. (local time) on February 21. The giant mobile maker in Korea sent invitations on Monday to major media agencies around the world to its launching event called "Samsung Unpacked 2016." February 21 is a day before the opening of the Mobile World Congress, a barometer event to tell the trend of global mobile market.

On the same day, LG Electronics is also scheduled to unveil its flagship smartphone "G5." LG has been late in launching the new products two or three months compared to Samsung, but LG will hold the launching event five hours before Samsung at 2:00 p.m. (local time). Xiaomi Technology of China will also present its newest smartphone on February 24 during the mobile industry event.

This year, Samsung’s invitation letter is much darker than usual. A dark cubical box is painted in a dark canvas where there is little light. What draws the attention first is the narrow blue beam coming out of the edge of the box. The shape of the light seems to symbolize number 7 as in "Galaxy S7."

Behind the dark invitation will be the intention of the hosts to emphasize the shape of number 7. Yet, it is designed to allude to the improved function of the new camera that captures a clear image even in the dark. A new technology has been applied to the S7 camera to capture a high-quality image even when there is little light.
