Samsung Electronics announced on Wednesday that it has established “Samsung master” system in order to preserve the manufacturing know-how and increase technological competitiveness.

The South Korean tech company will give certification to employees, who have worked for the company for more than 20 years and developed master-level skills in the fields of manufacturing technology, molding, measurement, and quality that require technological expertise and know-how.

Other criteria, such as efforts to nurture junior employees and contribution to management will be taken into account in selecting the “masters.” While the existing master system focused on nurturing talent in research and development, the new Samsung Mater system aims to encourage experts in the field of manufacturing technology.

During the new year’s kick-off meeting held at “Samsung Digital City” in Suwon with the attendance of executives and 500 other employees, four employees chosen as masters were awarded with the certification. “I expect Samsung masters to lead innovation in the field,” Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kim Ki-nam said.
