Samsung SDS announced Sunday that it entered an agreement with the Port of Rotterdam Authority that has the most port traffic in Europe and ABN AMRO, one of the three representative banks in the Netherlands, to launch a logistics project based on block chain.

It plans on completing a pilot project by February to apply its block chain platform Nexledger to logistics businesses of the Port of Rotterdam Authority by connecting it with ABN AMRO’s block chain platform Corda.

Block chain technology will be applied to the volume arriving at the Port of Rotterdam from Asia. They will be able to simplify trade processes such as checking import/export charges, share import/export documents in real-time and prevent document counterfeits once the project is complete.

It is also an opportunity to verify compatibility of Nexleger and other platforms as it will be interfacing with ABN AMRO’s platform.
