Samsung Electronics has topped the list as most valuable brand among South Korean companies, with its brand value hovering near the mark of 90 trillion Korean won. According to the recent brand value list of 50 South Korean companies by the London-based consulting business Brand Finance, Samsung Electronics has outperformed Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics to become the most valuable South Korean brand.

The South Korean electronic giant’s brand value stood at 88 trillion won (roughly 77.74 billion U.S. dollars), up 57 percent from 56.5 trillion won last year. Samsung Electronics also became the only South Korean company with the highest brand grade of AAA+. The value of second runner Hyundai Motor was quoted at 11.3 trillion won, followed by SK Telecom (7.7 trillion won), KT (6 trillion won), SK Hynix (5.9 trillion won), and KEPCO (5.8 trillion won). The sum of brand values from the second to the 10th rankers reached 59.8 trillion won.

“In terms of the combined brand value of Samsung Group as a whole, Samsung is the only non-American brand to achieve the feat,” said Brand Finance in its report. The value of Amazon, the world’s top ranker, stood approximately at 170 trillion won (150.8 billion dollars).
