Samsung Electronics has started mass production of 10nm-class 32GB DDR4 SoDIMM (Small outline Dual In-line Memory Module, picture) designed for high-performance laptops. A SoDIMM is a memory module used for small devices, such as laptops.

According to Samsung Electronics Wednesday, the 32GB DDR4 module is equipped with a total of 16 state-of-the-art 10nm 16GB DDR4 DRAM chips on the front and back of the module. The new module can speed up to 2666Mbps on gaming laptops. The new 32GM SoDIMM doubles capacity and increases speed by 11 percent, compared to the 16GB SoDIMM based on 20nm-class 8Gb DDR4 released by Samsung in 2014.

The new SoDIMM will provide high-performance gaming laptops with better capacity, speed and battery life. Laptops with 64GB RAM that are composed of two 32GB DDR4 modules can reduce power consumption by up to 39 percent in the active mode and 25 percent in standby mode.
