Nexon, a South Korean game maker, announced Thursday that it achieved 2.29 trillion won in sales and 885 billion won in operating profits. The figures rose by 28 percent and 123 percent, respectively on-year-on.

The recent results are attributable to the sustained success of the Dungeon Fighter Online in China, and the remarkable performance of local mobile games such as AxE and Overheat.

For the first time in nine years, however, Nexon was supplanted by Net Marble Games in sales volumes, which posted 2.42 trillion won in sales, which pursued “mobile first” strategy last year.

Kakao also announced Thursday that it posted 1.97 trillion won in sales and 165 billion won in operation profits. The figures are all time highs, up 35 percent and 42 percent each from the same period last year.
