LG Innotek said on Wednesday that it has put to market a "second-generation V2X full module" for connected vehicles and self-driving cars. V2X, short for "Vehicle to Everything," is a system that is designed to share and exchange traffic and road information between vehicles, vehicles and infrastructure, vehicles and pedestrians. A V2X module is a core component that offers communication function in the V2X.

LG Innotek introduced for the first time in the world a first-generation V2X full module two years ago. The company has also become the first in the world to launch a second-generation product this time.

The second-generation V2X module is equipped with a level of wireless communications capability that can warrant commercialization. The system allows user to transmit and receive signals without disruptions in connection within a 1-kilometer range even when the vehicle is moving at a speed of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

The new product is more durable and smaller in size than the first-generation model, which makes it easier to install anywhere on the vehicle. The device can withstand high-temperature impact of up to 105 degrees Celsius, and continue normal operation even when the cabin temperature reaches 90 degrees Celsius, because it is equipped with heat radiation design technology independently developed by the company. Since the module is just one third the size of a credit card, it can be mounted anywhere inside the vehicle.
