“President Park Geun-hye’s former speechwriter Cho In-geun denied knowing Choi Soon-sil. “I did not know about Choi Soon-sil at all and I had never made any accounts or had thoughts that presidential speeches were edited or changed strangely,” Cho told a group of reporters gathered in front of the Korea Securities Finance Corporation where he is currently working as a full-time auditor.

Since the “Choi Soon-sil scandal” broke out, Cho has been vanished from the public settings. This is the first time that anyone of President Park’s close aids is making official appearance amid snowballing allegations about Choi Soon-sil. He has been called “the pen of president” as he wrote speeches for President Park over the past four years since the presidential election campaign.

When asked if he knew about Choi and any allegations surrounding presidential speeches while he was working for the president, Cho said, “I did not know any of it and I heard it first from the news report”

“There were no major changes in my draft of speech. I am not certain when it changed strangely. I delivered the draft version to the president’s secretary Chung Ho-sung,” said Cho, hinting that Chung could be involved in this scandal.
