The Vietnamese government has reportedly delivered its will to both South Korea and North Korea that it desires to host a second U.S.-North Korea summit.

According to foreign affairs sources on Tuesday, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked South Korean President Moon Jae-in during their meeting in Seoul on December 6, last year to support hosting the summit in Vietnam. Chairman Ngan was quoted as saying that Vietnam wants to play a role in the denuclearization and settlement of peace in the Korean Peninsula.

Last November, Vietnam also delivered its wishes to hold the summit to North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho during his official visit to Vietnam. Ri, however, did not make any particular comment.

The White House sent its scouting teams to Hanoi, Bangkok, and Hawaii, which are candidates for the second summit, CNN reported on Monday, adding, "Some experts worry that hosting the summit in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi would send the wrong message because it invites a comparison between North Korea and Vietnam."

Therefore, the Vietnamese government is reportedly preferring Danang, a famous tourist city that is visited by many South Koreans, as the summit venue. When being selected, Danang could have an opportunity to be known internationally by holding the supersized event.
