North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vocally mentioned “complete denuclearization” during the inter-Korean summit on Friday, it has been reported. Kim reportedly requested President Moon Jae-in to convey to U.S. President Donald Trump his message for complete and swift denuclearization under the condition of normalizing Pyongyang-Washington ties.

After confirm‎ing that (the North’s) National Defense Commission Chairman Kim mentioned complete denuclearization’ at the morning session of the summit, a ranking ruling camp source said, “As a result, discussions to include complete denuclearization in the Panmunjom Declaration picked up speed.” During the 100-minute morning session, Moon and Kim reportedly agreed on all matters in the declaration including denuclearization.

“I understand that in the closed dialogue at the Dobo (pedestrian) Bridge at the Panmunjom, the North Korean leader talked about many issues that President Trump would have liked,” a source at the presidential office said. “He thus sent a sign that (the U.S. president) does not need to worry about ‘complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization that Washington demands.”
