South Korean President Moon Jae-in met with Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong Monday and said that the United States should lower the threshold for dialogue with North Korea and North Korea also should show its willingness to denuclearize. President Moon went on to say that it is important that the United States and North Korea sit down for talks as soon as possible, urging the United States to lower its demand for talks when North Korea has shown willingness to talk with the United States.

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong is currently visiting South Korea as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy to attend the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. At the meeting held at the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, Moon said, “It is very important to keep the dialogue momentum going after the Olympics.”

“China is pleased to see the ease of tension on the Korean Peninsula and it highly appreciates President Moon’s efforts in bringing about a rapprochement with North Korea,” the Chinese vice premier said. “China and South Korea will work together to realize North Korea-U.S. talks.”
