In partnership with research firm "Clarivate Analytics," Reuters analyzed competencies of top 75 Asian universities from 2010 to 2015. The rank was compiled for the second time followed by last year, which analyzed data from 2009 to 2014. KAIST continued to top the list since 2016.
The list has been compiled by evaluating the competencies of industrial innovation of each university, based on the number of patent results and journals on industrialization. The rank evaluates the number of patents applied, registered, citated, rate of citations, its impact on academic articles, and international patents. "The No.1 KAIST received high points for its 923 patents applied for the past five years, along with frequent citations from external researchers," said Reuters.
