Forbes' 2017-edition of the world's billionaires has been released on Monday. According to the list, Bill Gates increased his fortune to 86 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 11 billion dollars year-on-year, maintaining his title as the world’s richest man. He has ranked atop 18 times for the past 23 years.
Warren Buffett, the CEO of investing giant Berkshire Hathaway, netted handsome investment earnings due to Donald Trump’s election as U.S. President, ranking second by posting 75.6 billion dollars.
Among the Korean billionaires, Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kung-hee ranked the highest at 68th by posting 15.1 billion dollars, an increase of 5.5 billion dollars from last year. Amore Pacific Chairman Suh Kyung-bae had 6.7 billion dollars to rank 209th, and Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong posted 6 billion dollars to rank at 239th.
