Royal National Theatre's performance to be screened in Korea

The U.K. Royal National Theatre's popular performance is coming to Korea. The National Museum Korea will be screening National Theater Live, or NT Live, of Jane Eyre and Frankenstein in rotation at the Haeoreum Theater of the National Theater in central Seoul on Feb. 19-26. NT Live is a program by which the Royal National Theatre films popular plays to live broadcast or screen them in theaters worldwide. The National Museum Korea introduced it in Korea in 2014 and has since introduced seven plays including War Horse, King Lear, Hamlet and A Streetcar Named Desire.

Jane Eyre to be first released in Korea will be starring Madeleine Worrall, who had appeared in movies Mr. Holmes and Paddington, as an adventurous female character. The stage is comprised of ladders and wire structures. The play has received good eval‎uations of having described the emotions of characters in detail.

Frankenstein will be performing again in Korea with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternately playing Doctor Frankenstein and his creation. The play has been popular thanks to the two actors' dramatic performance, and sold 100 percent of their tickets when it was screened in Korea in 2015. The play was produced by Danny Boyle who directed movies Trainspotting and The Beach.
