Is the almighty Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) changing as she is nearing 30?

After a 3-year break, Lady Gaga appears on her regular album cover "Joanne" (Released on Oct. 21, Universal Music Korea) with a pastel-pink hat, which neatly covers her blond hair running down behind her ears. Yes, she was the same singer who banged her head, crawled on the stage, and sang, "I'll die living just as free as my hair" (from "Hair" released in 2011). The album cover strongly hints the influence from country music, both in rhythm and arrangement. What's more, the most powerful dance picks "A-Yo" and "Perfect Illusion" are still gentle compared to previous songs both in terms of beat and vocal styles.

Her previous works also show stark differences. On her 2013 song "Artpop," - pop art spelled backwards - Gaga created the most meticulous harmony, perfectly blending her charismatic appearances and musical contents. Her talents already outshined when the album started with the song "Aura" where she scatters her malignant smile on scenes, just like Quentin Tarantino movies. Her grotesque performances hit the peak when she got covered in vomit at the 2014 South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival.

It was right after that performance when Gaga hauled off and even released a jazz vocal duo album with Tony Bennett. Turning away from the raging waves and embarking on the silent harbor called "Joanne," Gaga's recent album is highlighted by ballads in her songs of the pastoral "Joanne," "Million Reasons," and "Angel Down" played in acoustic guitar or piano.

Maybe we will witness Lady Gaga playing an acoustic guitar at the American Music Awards on Nov. 20. Did she decide to leave out Gaga and become a "lady" after all those years of raw meat dress and sadomasochism? In any case, this lady was in fact a great composer and a lyric writer before becoming a pop witch. Her calm album "Joanne" proves her talents.
