Park Byung-ho of the Minnesota Twins will end his first season in Major League Baseball early due to a wrist surgery. U.S. media reported Thursday that Park will undergo the surgery on his right wrist on Friday to repair a subluxation of the tendon in the back of his hand. This injury is in a different part of the wrist from where he complained pain previously.

Park, who made his way to Major League Baseball through a posting process after finishing last season in the Korean professional baseball league, hitting .191 with 12 home runs and 24 RBIs over 62 games with the Twins.

After being demoted to the minor leagues last month, he showed improved hitting performances, including home runs at three consecutive at-bats. However, the wrist injury put an abrupt end to this season for him. "I will take another shot at playing in the Big League by learning from this year’s poor record," Park said.
