Korean blockbusters are vying for summer crown in the midst of heat waves. "The Tunnel” has garnered 200 million admissions over its opening five days. "The Last Princess" and "Operation Chromite" have recorded 3 million and 6 million admissions, respectively.

According to Korea Box Office Information System (KOBIS), “The Tunnel” has topped the box office with 670,000 admissions and defeated “The Last Princess” (with 350,000 admissions) by doubling the gap with No. 2 on Saturday. As of 9 a.m. Sunday, “The Tunnel” has exceeded 2 million by recording 2,054,736 admissions. The disaster movie portrays the life-or-death struggle of a car salesman (starred by Ha Jung-woo) who accidentally becomes trapped in a destroyed tunnel on his way home from work.

As of Saturday, “The Little Princess” has made 3.14 million admissions and “Operation Chromite,” whose box office rank is No. 3, has recorded 6.03 million. Gong Yoo's "Train to Busan," this year's first movie to cross the 10 million admissions mark, has earned 10.65 million admissions, becoming the 12th highest grossing films in Korea replacing the record of the 2005 movie "Kind and the Clown" (10.51 million). "Run-off," which was released on the same day with “The Tunnel,” landed in 6th with 98,500 admissions despite favorable condition of the Olympic season.
