“We need to have a close look at problems that may arise within six months. If they have a significant impact on the Korean economy, the National Assembly should revise the law quickly.”

Huh Chang-soo, chairman of the Federation of Korean industries, said in a press conference on Thursday regarding the ruling by the Constitutional Court on the anti-corruption law or the Kim Young-ran law.

“In principle, we respect the opinion of the Constitutional Court. But it will deal a blow to farmers and stock raisers,” Huh said. “There will be many attempts to bend rules. How can you investigate all of such cases?” He mentioned the failure of the scheme that requires providing evidentiary documents in case hospitality expenses over 500,000 Korean won (445.43 U.S. dollars), which was introduced in 2004 but abolished in 2009 due to side effects, saying, “The law that is practically impossible to abide by is subject to change.”

With respect to pardoning business people, he said, “Hopefully, as many people as possible can be given a special pardon on Independence Day so that they can contribute to the economy.”
