Park Sung-hyun was one par behind at the 18th hole on Sunday. With 200 yards to go for the pin, she attempted a two on with a 17 degree hybrid club. If a buddy had made at this hole, she could have gone to the overtime, and won if it was an eagle. She shot for the victory. However, the ball fell into the water hazard on the green's left side. Park's victory also fell into the water.

At the final round of the U.S. Women's Open Championship at Rosewood CordeValle in San Martin, California, Park had two birdies and four bogies losing two hits for a total four under par and 284 hits, ranking joint third with Lydia Ko, Yang Hee-young and Ji Eun-hee.

Despite suffering from shingles, Park has competed intensely for a victory based on her long shot of average 261.2 yards, with which she was ranking fourth in driving distance. Her total award money this LPGA season has reached 380,000 dollars in four competitions including this competition's 213,638 dollars, placing her at 26th in award money. If she ranks within 40 in award money ranking until the end of this year, she then qualifies for next year's LPGA Tour.
