Texas Rangers slugger Choo Shin-soo (34) suffered injury again in the first game since his return from injury, and was thus exited from his team’s roster. MLB.COM, the Major League’s official website, said on Monday, “Rangers outfielder Choo Shin-Soo was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday after missing six weeks with a calf strain, but he couldn’t make it through the weekend without getting injured again.” Choo was replaced after feeling pain while running to the home base via the third base in his return game against the Houston Astros on Friday.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Oh Seung-hwan (34) continued his nice pitching performance for nine consecutive games without losing any point. In a home game against the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Monday, Oh took the mound as the second relief pitcher in the top of the seventh inning, and posted one strikeout without giving any hit and point for one inning. His performance was all the more meaningful because he successfully faced off the cleanup trio of the Cubs, which ranks first overall in the National League. St. Louis won the game 4-3 due to Oh’s stellar pitching on the day.

The outcome of the game lowered Oh’s earned run average to 1.14. Oh only gave three points during 23 and two thirds of innings in 22 games. He is thus outperforming his team’s ace relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal (26, ERA 2.40). When Rosenthal allowed a homer to give two runs and was seen on shaky ground in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, Sports channel ESPN singled out Oh as "viable option at closer" for his team.

Meanwhile, Park Byung-ho (30) of the Minnesota Twins started as designated batter and fifth batter in a home game against the Kansas City Royals. He had a hit in the bottom of the eighth inningg to overcome the slump of his five-game hitless streak. Lee Dae-ho (34) of the Seattle Mariners had one hit in four times at bat, while Kang Jung-ho (29) of the Pittsburgh Orioles played pinch hitter, and had no hit in one time at bat.
