Venue of various webtoon contents newly opens in central Seoul

As webtoons have expanded their territory to dramas and movies, a venue for webtoon enthusiasts has been set up at Myeongdong, an epicenter for Korean wave in Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency have announced that a multi-cultural place for webtoon called “Webtoon Gongjakso (photo)” opens in Cartoon Street in Jung District, Seoul on Monday. Webtoon Gongjakso not only features limited edition figures in popular webtoon such as “The Sound of Heart” and “Noblesse,” but also provides visitors with chances to make webtoon characters by themselves and print them out through 3D printers. It also houses “Webtoon Gallery” where various webtoon contents are displayed and other rest areas such as cafes.

At the Cartoon Street that stretches from Gate 3 of Myeongdong Station to Seoul Animation Center are an array of places where contents of Korean Wave can be enjoyed.

“An effort will be made to create more opportunities where webtoon creators, consumers and contents companies are freely exchange and communicate their ideas,” said Park Bo-gyeong, head of the Seoul Animation Center.
