Bauhaus tours offer designs and history in Germany

This year is a special year for Germany. The year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Bauhaus, and the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Diverse events are taking place across Germany to commemorate these milestones.

Bauhaus is an art school that was founded by architect Walter Gropius in Weimar, Germany in 1919. The mission of the school is to transform handicraft, paintings, art, design and architecture into composite arts that are integrated with industry. Bauhaus was maintained as a school for a short period of time between 1919 and 1933, but the ideology that the school envisioned spread to across the world, and maintains its influence and impact even today.

“Modernism Grand Tour” is a product recommended by experts among the events held to mark the centennial that allow visitors to appreciate world-class artworks created at Bauhaus. Participants in the program can visit more than 100 buildings and structures from the 20th century while traveling across the country by car and bicycle.

The Dessau Bauhaus Museum, which will open on September 8, will offer the Bauhaus collection of the Dessau Foundation, which is the second largest in the world. If you want to encounter the history of Bauhaus, you are advised to visit the original Bauhaus exhibition at Berlin Gallery, which will open on September 6. In addition, various events regarding Bauhaus will take place in many cities including Frankfurt, Hamburg, Mainz, and Stuttgart. The Berlin Wall collapsed on November 9, 1989. One of the most important cultural cities in the world, Berlin has a variety of events to celebrate this year. Memorial events will be held on November 4th to 10th in 7 historic places in Berlin.Concerts, lectures, art projects and exhibitions are also under preparation. The director of the Berlin Cultural Business Center said "In the spring of 2020, we will hold a Berlin exhibition at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin, and plan to take it one step further as a world cultural center."
