Gustavo Dudamel to present Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in Seoul

Gustavo Dudamel, the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will hold a concert in Korea. He went through Venezuela’s famous El Sistema programme of musical training for the youth.

It would be his second concert in Korea with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2015 and third since the one with Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, an El Sistema orchestra in 2008. The concert will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Seoul Arts Center’s Concert Hall.

Dudamel, who conducted Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 "Tragic" in his 2015 concert, will play Mahler's Symphony No. 1, also known as the “Titan,” this time.

Pianist Yuja Wang will also play composer John Adams' new piano concerto, “Must the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?” Dudamel also played Adams' “City Noir,” which was written for Dudamel's first gala as L.A. Phil music director in 2009.
