South Korean Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin was replaced before the bottom of the fifth ended in the 2nd game of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, held on Saturday (local time) at Miller Park in Milwaukee in Wisconsin.

It was the first time in five years for him to be substituted even before he pitched five innings since Dodgers’ National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves in 2013. Fortunately for Dodgers, however, Clayton Kershaw made a stable pitch, presenting it a come-from-behind victory. CBS Sports’ commentary on Ryu was comparatively positive, analyzing that Ryu’s pitching was not as good as his usual one, but it was at the sufficient level for Dodgers with the best offense in the NL.

Ryu must have felt regrettable about the bottom of the fifth of the game, given that he recorded an ERA of 0.35 for four games by the end of the season and at the start of the following NLDS. By the time a man was out in the bottom of the fifth, he had made a great pitch. However, he started to struggle after Orlando Arcia, the 8th place hitter, hit a home run, which was followed by a base hit out to center field by Brewers’ starting pitcher Wade Miley who batted Ryu’s 10th ball. Lorenzo Cain hit a double out to left field against the already troubled Ryu. With a man out and runners on the 2nd and 3rd bases, Ryu was replaced. The next pitcher lost one point, which made Ryu’s runaway two.

However, the Dodgers won four to three, relieving Ryu’s disappointment. It chased Brewers by gaining two points in the top of the seventh when the score was zero to three; and with Justin Turner’s double home run in the top of the eighth. With one win and one loss against Milwaukee, Dodgers is scheduled to fight the last three matches at home in Los Angeles.
