A man drove a van into pedestrians on Monday (local time) in downtown Toronto, where a Korean town is located, killing at least 10 people and injuring 15. The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday that two Koreans have died and one has been injured seriously in this attack. It was confirmed that one Korean-Canadian has also been killed in the incident. “Six out of nine Koreans, who were out of contact, have been found to be safe and we are trying to ascertain the whereabouts of the rest three,” a ministry official said.

Canadian daily newspaper The Globe and Mail reported that at about 1:30 p.m., a white van drove at a high speed on the sidewalk along the Yonge Street for 2.2 kilometers for 25 minutes, killing and injuring more than a dozen of people. The police arrested the suspect Alek Minassian, 25, on the scene. Toronto Police Chief told reporters, “The actions definitely look deliberate.” But Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said that the attack is not part of organized terror plot by saying, “there would appear to be no national security connection to this particular incident.”
