South Korean President Moon Jae-in will talk with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over the phone next week before the inter-Korean summit. Cheong Wa Dae is organizing a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Moon right after the summit.

“There will be a phone call between leaders of the two Koreas once an inter-Korean hot line is established,” said a Cheong Wa Dae insider Sunday. This will be the first time that Kim Jong Un talks with the South Korean leader on the phone. Moon is planning to thank Kim for North Korea’s participation in the PyeongChang Winder Olympics and express his will to build sustainable inter-Korean relationships. But he is not likely to mention denuclearization on the phone.

Cheong Wa Dae announced on the same day that the South and the North had working-level talks on communication including the hot line at Tongilgak on the north side of Panmunjom Saturday. The two Koreas are going to hold high-level talks on Thursday or Friday to coordinate agenda for the summit.

Moon is also likely to make a phone call to Trump after the summit on April 27 to discuss the result of the meeting and exchange opinions about a summit between North Korea and the United States as well as a roadmap for denuclearization. “Moon needs to talk with President Trump after the summit over the phone or face-to-face,” said a Cheong Wa Dae insider. “As of now, there is a low possibility of Moon talking with Trump on the phone before the summit.”
