Korea’s Me Too movement is forcing poet Ko Eun’s poems to be taken out from school textbooks, and the publishing industry is weeding out his traces.

“We decided to indefinitely delay publication of Ko Eun’s poetry collection Simcheong planned to be published in the first half of this year commemorating his 60th year as a poet,” said Changbi Publishers. “We haven’t decided on the next step. It’s still being discussed.”

Simcheong is an epic whose motive comes from Simcheongjeon, Korean classical novel, and is 1,000 pages long on 200 square writing paper. Ko Eun delivered his draft early this year.

“We will recall and scrap our bi-monthly magazine Biography vol. 6 (2015) that features the poet,” Threechairs Publishing also said. The magazine covers Korea’s democratic movement in the 1970s when Ko Eun wrote poems, the “fake Ko Eun’ incident in the 1960s and behind stories of the Nobel Prize nomination. The company will also recall and scrap vol. 8 of the magazine that featured former South Chungcheong Province Gov. An Hee-jung in 2016 and his book “Collabonation” (compound of collaboration and nation).
