North Korean media have been strongly condemning the reports of South Korean outlets concerning the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, which have analyzed that Pyongyang intends to take the “driving seat” of the upcoming Olympics with excessive propaganda.

Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korean ruling Workers’ Party, said Sunday that “the demagoguery of South Korea’s puppet conservative media is going beyond bounds.” “They are picking a fight by claiming that our Masikryong Ski Resort and Kalma Airport, which we agreed to provide for a joint training with South Korean athletes, are ‘old and incomplete’ and ‘dangerous,’” added the newspaper. “All walks of life in the South are showing immense gratitude to us for extending a helping hand for the Olympics, which could become the worst of its kind with little popularity.”

Pyongyang’s state-controlled propaganda website “Uriminzokkiri” also said Sunday that South Korean media are “preposterously claiming that the sending of our cheering squad and art performers is aimed at promoting propaganda.” The website had also denounced the recent attendance of South Korea’s Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Security and Stability on the Korean Peninsula held in Vancouver, Canada, as a “rash behavior with no sense of national self-respect.”
