Incheon International Airport’s Passenger Terminal 2 will open on Thursday. It has a great ambition to go beyond being an airport and to be the best cultural space as well.

The airport has invested 4.6 billion won into the “Art Port Project,” whic

h is its starting and turning point in developing itself as a cultural space. The space will feature the works of domestic and foreign artists, including Jinnie Seo and Julius Popp.

Among them, the most eye-catching piece is “Great Mobile” by French star artist Xavier Veilhan (picture). This art piece installed on the third floor of the departure gate is hard to miss as it is 18.5 meters in height. Veilhan entered the country in time for the opening of the Terminal 2.

“This is very meaningful for me to have my work displayed in the Incheon Airport, an international venue, and get a chance to introduce my work to many people,” the 55-year-old artist said in a press conference.
