Samsung Electronics announced Monday that it will unveil a wireless handstick cleaner Power Gun at the IFA 2017, a leading international trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances held in Berlin. The Power Gun will be released in Korea first next month before being showcased in Europe within the year of 2017.

The Power Gun is named after its powerful suction. Typically, handstick vacuum cleaners are weaker than their wired counterparts in terms of suction power. The new Power Gun features a maximum 150-watt suction power, by minimizing air resistance with a motor shaped like the wings of an airplane. This is comparable with other strong competitors such as LG Electronics or Dyson. The wireless handstick vacuum of the three Code Zero cleaners, which were unveiled by LG Electronics in June, boasts 140-watt suction power. Samsung explains that the Power Gun is capable of cleaning up 99 percent of the floor regardless of the surface type, on the back of its powerful suction.

A relatively small battery size, another shortcoming of wireless vacuum cleaners, has also been improved. The Power Gun is equipped with a detachable 32.4 V lithium-ion battery pack, which can last as long as 40 minutes when fully charged. Samsung’s new wireless cleaner also boasts a strong durability with the battery capacity remaining 80 percent after five years of use.

Flexibility also matters for handstick vacuum cleaners. The Power Gun can be bent maximum 50 degrees thanks to the company’s patented “Flex Handle” technology. This eases the physical stress on the wrist when cleaning under the bed or couch. The flexible handle spares much physical labor by obviating the need to bend the back or the knees.

“The Power Gun is a product of innovation with industry leading features such as suction power and ergonomic design, which will significantly reduce the time and energy needed for cleaning,” said President Seo Byung-sam of Samsung Electronics’ home appliances business division.
