South Koreans have selected Jeju as the best place to visit in South Korea. Online travel agency Expedia conducted a survey on top domestic tour destinations with 1,000 male and female office workers in their 20s to 50s and said on Friday that about 82.7 percent of respondents overwhelmingly selected Jeju as their favorite place to visit (respondents were allowed to give multiple responses), followed by Busan (19.6 %), Sokcho (13.7 %), Yeosu (13.4 %), Gyeongju (9.9 %), Gangneung (9.1 %), Seoul (6.0 %) and Jeonju (3.0 %).

The biggest advantage of domestic travel was familiarity with places (47.9 %). Other answers include time-saving (14.1 %), beautiful scenery (12.0 %) and various eateries (9.0 %).

About 43.7 percent of respondents answered that they are more inclined to book domestic accommodations when they can use additional facilities such as swimming pools and spas for free. Also, free breakfast (19.7 %), room upgrade (15.4 %) and late check-out (11.1 %) were selected as important factors to determine their reservations.

With regard to vacation policies of the current government including support for vacation bonus and extension of substitute holidays, 62.1 percent of respondents said that they will make a positive impact on the vitalization of domestic tourism. About 71.4 percent of respondents answered that they are willing to visit more often to domestic-tourist destinations if the government expands related policies.
