Samsung on Thursday announced 15 designed shortlisted in the competition held jointly by British architecture and design magazine Dezeen and Samsung for the South Korean electronics giant's QLED TV stand design. It was the first competition for TV accessories designs. Some 1,200 designers from 83 countries submitted unique and creative concepts.
The shortlisted designs include those emphasizing lifestyles and practical uses as well as those using various materials such as colored glass, aluminum and wood. Five finalists will be selected from the shortlist and created as actual stands to be displayed at Samsung's booth at the IFA consumer electronics trade show to be held in Berlin in September.
Samsung has declared the era of "Lifestyle TV" this year, introducing transparent optical cables, no-gap wall mount and a 360-degree design that remove restrictions in TV installation. In particular, the electronics giant has also standardized TV stands for the first time in the industry, allowing consumers to use them not only for all of its QLED TV products but also for other TV models such as The Frame series.
